Chair- man Lnamberlain, or the senate Military Committee, with a White House engagement for late today, said he would ask President Wilson in his address to Congress next week to endorse universal military train ing as a preparedness measure first in importance. Many members have indicated they will attend. Representative Caldwell, of New York, Democrat, has announced that he will introduce Chairman bill for universal service. Play at Rimer School. The Rimer School will close on the 19th of April. The faculty and stu dent body are planning a good pro gram. They have sefcured two good speakers for the close of the school in connection with the Recitation and Deeclamation Contests. There will be a free exercise and drill given in the afternoon. 4 Crowning the May Pole' will be one of the special features. There will be a ball game in the af ternoon. The play, "Miss Topsy Tuny," affords much amusement which will be given at eight o'clock .on the night of the Nineteenth. The play will be the best rendered for a long time in this part of the County. Miss Ethel Gowan, of the United Mates .Department or Education, is spending the week with, the city schools. She is the expert on home gardening and is giving special atten tion to the work of the local teaehers of this subject, Miss Morgan and Miss Vddie White. The public debate tomorrow night will be at Central School and will be gin promptly at 8 o'clock. Concord should show her interest in the schools by giving a full house. They will be irotid of her representation. A charge of 10 cents will be made at he door to ny expenses. Messrs. Luther T. HartselL Jr.. and Joseph Caddell will leave in the morn ing to try conclusions with States- ville. Supt. Webb will accompany hem. School Closing at Fisher. The school at Fisher sehoolhouse in No. 6, will close Thursda3, Apru 12. at 3 o'clock.
